As I arrived at the lake I decided to have a good look around to see if I could find any fish. And to see who else was on the lake. There was a few fish showing in open water in the main part of the lake and a few held up in the weed at the back of an island. There was only one other person on the lake so I had a decent amount of water to go at. I had decided on the area at the back of the island but when I got round there in the van and sat watching the water it just didn’t feel right. I decided to head back around the lake and fish a peg that gave me good access to open water and a nice little margin spot. I opted to fish one rod to the margin spot where I introduced about 2kg of The Worm. My second rod was fished to the edge of a weed bed at 110 yards where I introduced another 3kg of boilies with the throwing stick. Third rod was on a choddy whacked out about 140 yards to showing fish.
At about 1720hrs, my margin rod ripped into action and after a decent battle I ended up with a very angry 32lb 6oz mirror in the bottom of the net. I took some self takes and returned it back to fight another day. I re-cast the rod and topped up the bait. I didn’t have anything else in the night.
At 0730, my rod fished to the weed bed gave a couple of bleeps and instinct told me to ‘hit it’. It went solid almost straight away but I could feel that familiar thump and I knew the fish was still on. I kept constant pressure on and it eventually came out. A further 10 or so minutes later and my second fish was in the net. I knew it was another good fish and I was proved right when the scales tipped round to 34lb 12oz.
At about 1640hrs, the weed bed rod sprang into action once again. This time I stopped it from weeding me up and I landed another good mirror of 27lb 8oz. The rest of the night was quiet. Morning arrived and it was time to pack away. I couldn’t believe it. Three fish, two 30s and an upper 20. I couldn’t have asked for more really and I was going to return home happy.
All fish fell to Aqua Dynamix bait, The Worm.
